ABOUT ANGELA

For nearly 20 years, Angela has defended thousands of clients. Angela has represented clients successfully in trial, appeals, and postconviction litigation (ineffective assistance of counsel motions and motions to reconsider). Angela frequently achieves favorable results her clients feared may not be possible. Though her emphasis is criminal defense, she has also successfully represented clients in Title IX investigations, record sealing, pardon/ clemency petitions, petitions to deregister, obtaining and defending protection orders, and parole revocation hearings.  Her clients describe her as thorough, tenacious, and compassionate.

Angela was born and raised in Tennessee.  She attended college in her hometown, graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in 2002. After college, she moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver.  While in law school, she participated in the criminal defense clinic, worked as a law clerk for a Denver Judge, and worked as an intern for Colorado’s Office of the State Public Defender. In 2006 she earned the student leadership award for her outstanding advocacy and leadership.

After law school, she performed a judicial fellowship in Arapahoe County working for two District Court Judges drafting orders, researching legal issues in criminal and civil matters, and reviewing postconviction petitions. After her fellowship ended, she accepted a position as a Deputy State Public Defender where she honed her litigation and writing skills in Adams and Denver counties—two of the busiest trial offices in Colorado.

As a senior attorney, she handled thousands of criminal matters, including numerous felonies, misdemeanors.  She also successfully represented clients in numerous appeals and postconviction matters, such as reconsiderations of sentences and litigation of postconviction claims.

She left the Public Defender’s Office in 2016 to start her law firm. Since starting her own practice, she has achieved countless dismissals, diversion offers, deferred judgments, acquittals, and conviction reversals.

Angela is a proud breast cancer survivor who knows what it is like to overcome challenges. She knows how to fight hard battles. Surviving breast cancer strengthened her passion to improving her clients’ lives. She has proudly mentored dozens of attorneys, trained attorneys, and for nearly ten years has served as co-chair of the Denver Chapter of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (“CCDB”).  As co-chair of the Denver Chapter, she assists the CCDB Executive Board by gathering information about judicial finalists and drafting reports used to endorse or oppose the appointment of judicial candidates.  She is proud to have fundraised almost thirty thousand dollars for the Criminal Defense Bar to help lobby for criminal justice reforms to benefit people charged with and convicted of crimes in Colorado.

Heidi Tripp

ABOUT HEIDI

Heidi grew up between California and Missouri before moving to the east coast for law school. At Penn State Law – University Park, she was the vice president of the Criminal Law Society, a member of the Civil Rights Appellate Clinic, a published editor of the Penn State Law Review, and a student extern for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

After law school, she moved to Colorado to represent clients in postconviction and appellate proceedings. Her practice quickly expanded to include guidance for clients through collateral consequences resulting from criminal convictions. Her unique skills allow her to advocate for clients by first and foremost getting to know them and their case so she can approach their legal issue with mitigation in mind. She has used these mitigation skills to help clients successfully petition for clemency, progress through the parole process, request referrals for special needs parole, and resolve complications arising from warrants and extradition.

Heidi represents clients convicted of all crimes, and has extensive experience representing clients convicted of violent felonies and homicides. However, she believes that all clients deserve quality representation regardless of the charges they face.

She joined the Angela Campbell Law Group in 2025 and continues fighting for clients’ rights in appellate and postconviction proceedings, in addition to pre-filing matters and civil appeals. When she is not advocating for her clients, Heidi is spending time with her husband and their two dogs.

Heidi’s successes include:

  • Assisting multiple clients receive a commutation of life sentences.

  • Assisting a client receive a pardon of conviction from the governor.

  • Successfully negotiated with the Denver Conviction Review Unit to reduce two life without parole sentences to sentences with parole eligibility, and one sentence of hundreds of years to a sentence with parole eligibility.

  •  Successfully litigated with the Jefferson County Conviction Integrity Unit to reduce a client’s sentence by over 100 years.

  • Successfully argued for dismissal of all charges related to possession of an illegal firearm, based on a lack of evidence and in the interests of justice.

  • Successfully argued that a decade-old plea deal was unconstitutional and negotiated a new plea that would avoid immigration consequences for her client.

  • Fought on behalf of multiple incarcerated clients to correct time computation errors made by DOC, gaining partial time reinstated.

  • Persuaded a district court to dismiss a years-old FTA warrant and successfully terminate probation.

  • Persuaded a district court to affirm a county court’s suppression of evidence and dismissal of all DUI-related charges against her client.

  • Persuaded a district court to remove her client from the sex offender registry.

  • Assisted a client in successfully applying for and coordinating an interstate compact transfer.

  • Worked with court personnel to resolve a client’s incorrectly assessed court fees.
